RADAR (Research Data Repository) is an interdisciplinary digital data repository for the archival and publication of research data resulting from completed scientific studies and projects. RADAR focuses on disciplines who do not have a tradition of data sharing thus ensuring better availability, sustainable preservation and (independent) publication capacity of their research data.
Our Journey So Far....
RADAR was developed as a cooperation project funded by the DFG including project partners from Technical Information Library (TIB), Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München, The Leibniz Institute for Plant Biochemistry and the Steinbuch Center for Computing (SCC) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). FIZ Karlsruhe now acts as a operator and contract partner. Three copies of the data is stored at different geographical locations in the data centers of the Steinbuch Center for Computing (SCC) and in the Center for Information Services and High Performance Calculation (ZIH) at TU Dresden. Thus the data storage is subject to the legal provisions of the Federal Republic of Germany. TIB remains an important partner, who together with FIZ Karlsruhe are responsible for the marketing of RADAR. TIB, as the DOI registrar and German DataCite member, are responsible for DOI registration.
